Cutting some shaped glass today for some new art p Cutting some shaped glass today for some new art pendants. This process is slow and tedious. Gotta watch your fingertips too as those small shards of glass can be deadly.

A while back I purchased some small “gem” tin type photos and they have been waiting for their time to shine. I love creating with these precious tiny photos.

The pendants are all taped with the copper tape and ready to solder.

Stay tuned for the final projects…
Handmade Heart Bezels Part Two In this time lapse Handmade Heart Bezels Part Two

In this time lapse video you can see a part of the process where the glass glitter is added around the heart. Prior to this process vintage papers, photos, book pages, etc are chosen for the background of all of the hearts. Then vintage buttons and vintage rhinestone bits are all picked out to compliment the colors of the papers chosen.

Once all the glue has dried, the resin can be added to seal everything and a piece of beautiful jewelry awaits its necklace chain or other necklace components.

In the last photo you can see some handmade Sacred Heart bezels in which I added the flame at the top and handmade some epoxy clay roses for inside. I have some beautiful labradorite rosary beaded chain which will become the necklace part.

Handmade Bezels Part One You might say the labori Handmade Bezels Part One

You might say the laborious process for these handmade heart bezels is too much to undertake. But, when I see the beauty in the outcome of them, the process is all worth it.

From the first stage of the “ugly” step, one can see the blooming of beauty. Like in life, sometimes we have to go through the “not so pretty” to get to the beautiful end result. Whenever I am creating these bezels, this thought crosses my mind each time.

By just adding a few elements, the once “boring” heart bezel becomes a beautiful piece of art. And that extra bit of glass glitter takes them to a new level.

If this process intrigues you, I still have some spots open in two of my classes at @art_and_soul_retreat in Portland. Head on over to their site and look for my week of classes offered. Beautiful Bezels and A Bezel Beauty Necklace are the 2 classes which use this technique.
